John’s whole paintings are precious to me. The ones that are discarded, typically ripped into four pieces, are just as precious

He uses a lot of paper; who knows what percentage of work is discarded because he doesn’t like a mark he has made? It is those marks that I like. They are magical mistakes.

The colour combinations, his brushstrokes, the paper, the textures, and  the rips he makes, become my inspiration. I search very carefully for pieces that catch my eye and my imagination – the fabulous fragments. 

These precious pieces I use in cards, letterpress boxes, collages,  covers, frames, and more. There are endless opportunities and possibilities for these collaborative pieces.
